Shan Beaste is nothing if not diverse. The LA chanteuse has been performing under the name ZOMBELLE for only a brief time, but already she’s helped shape the face of several young genres. Emerging as a brightly-colored head in a sea of fog, she flirts alternately with the syrupy lo-fidelity of witch house, the haunted ambience of freak-folk, and the glitched-out rave of seapunk. Microgenres galore, but her charm, beautiful voice, and bewitching (harrrr) live shows take her a head above the symbologist longshirts for an irresistible time.

3. Raging or chilling out?
Chilling out is cool, I’m down with mellow vibes. For the most part I’m a chill babe. Chillzones include (but not limited to) the beach (#duh), my bed (#cultoflayinginbed), laying out by the pool (#sowet) or hanging with my homegirls at the “mall” (etsy/ebay/bigcartel). Raging is fun but that’s how babies happen and I’m not down with that. Molly Soda said it best in one of her latest tweets when she said, “I can totally relate to that scene in ten things I hate about you when Julia Stiles is drunk and dancing on the table.” I RT’d.

6. The ocean: what mysteries does it hold?
I feel that the ocean is psychic and it reads our feelings. Water vibrates and is easily influenced to do so at different frequencies. Our oceans are the largest example of this and I assume they’re picking up on the frequencies of our universal consciousness and adjusting themselves accordingly. The oceans are ancient, just meditate on that. All of the living organisms in the sea, the creatures, all of that life thriving there- and I don’t know if we’ll ever have a better understanding of it unless we become a part of it. It’s macro vs micro but it’s real and it’s already happening. Not to be a doomsday profit but… learn to surf.

8. Buffy: great show or greatest show?
Recently started the Buffy series over again and FINALLY got to Season 4 and synced Buffy with Angel. I haven’t done this yet even tho I’ve seen both of these series on innumerable occasions. I get really tuned in and when I start a series I have to see it all the way through. I pretty much like everything that Joss Whedon does although, I was pissed off at the finale eps of Dollhouse… I mean, #WTF. But Buffy is where it’s at. I laugh, I cry and when the series is over, I miss my friends.

10. THE FUTURE: what it holds and how we can destroy it:
Fashions will get a whole lot cooler (5th Element/Hackers), a majority of music will be a lot worse (thanks Abelton) ie, over-saturation and lack of imagination due to the deadening sub-sense of instant gratification and coconut is gonna make a comeback in a major way!
