German techno icon Helmut Geier aka Hell will soon release a double album called "Teufelswerk", which means devil’s work. The album is split into Night and Day CDs. While the Night portion refers to Chicago house and Detroit techno, the Day half focuses on Krautrock and early German psychedelic music.
Hell used a sexy Rolodex for his latest creation. Along with Peter Kruder (of legendary downtempo duo Kruder and Dorfmeister), who co-wrote and coproduced the Day half, he also requested the talents of multi-instrumentalists Christian Prommer and Roberto Di Gioia. Furthermore, the electroclash pioneer collaborated with superstar P. Diddy on the track "The DJ" and used Bryan Ferry’s vocals for "U Can Dance".
"Teufelswerk" showcases the extent of Hell’s vast musical knowledge or to use his profound, nearly religious words: "Teufelswerk represents the music in the best way: it’s the work of the devil and it’s the work of me, the work of Hell."
