French artist and one half of Daft Punk Thomas Banglater has been identified as the composer for Gaspar Noé’s newest film Enter The Void, which is premiering at Cannes later this month. After most of the dance world was found convulsing from the news that Daft Punk would be scoring the sequel to Tron, this comes as a nice added bonus.
This is Banglater’s second work with the mysterious Noé – the first was 2002’s very murky Irréversible. The synopsis for Enter The Void is as follows:
"Oscar and his sister Linda are recent arrivals in Tokyo. Oscar’s a small time drug dealer, and Linda works as a nightclub stripper. One night, Oscar is caught up in a police bust and shot. As he lies dying, his spirit, faithful to the promise he made his sister that he would never abandon her – refuses to abandon the world of the living. It wanders through the city, his visions growing evermore distorted, evermore nightmarish. Past, present and future merge in a hallucinatory maelstrom."
I know, real upbeat stuff. Watch out for a flurry of Daft Punk activity in 2010.
