Tresor will be celebrating its 18th birthday this year and in honor of this occasion is journeying eastwards, more specifically Beijing, China for a night entitled, Tresor Night.
Ever since China hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics, the country has been exposed to all sorts of Western influences. One of the most unexpected cross-cultural exchanges to emerge from all this, was news that the Goethe Institute China, in conjunction with the German Embassy, are set to host a night featuring Berlin’s very own techno powerhouse Tresor on November 6.
This will also coincide with the 20th year anniversary of the Berlin Wall. Kind of ironic considering China is still under the stranglehold of communism.
Artists that will appear on the night are Tresor residents, Tofa, Medy Soul and Pacou. Tresor opened its doors two years after the Wall fell in 1991, opening up its basement vault underneath the foundation of a department store.
Tresor grew into one of the biggest clubs in the mid-’90s, and still has a reputation as one of the most important dance clubs in the techno world.
Tresor Night will take place on November 6, 2009
