In a recent Beatport interview, US techno legend Green Velvet, allowed fans a refreshingly intimate and candid insight into his personal life. The 41-year-old Chicagoan not only revealed his affinity for Christianity, but also the positive effect dance music has had on his life and others around him.
Ever frank, Jones reveals why he thinks his music is a cure for the everyday stresses and pressures of life and the fact that his biggest hit “La La Land” was ironically about persuading someone to come off drugs.
“I would like to think that I am always helping somebody through the music I make… (Putting) that individual in a positive place of joy.”
Moving on to more devout matters, Jones also divulged his kinship with his religion, explaining the role the almighty played with his early productions.
“I was a lost sheep for a while but I have found my way back. My early productions were done with God in mind for the most part – “Preacher Man”, “Brighter Days”, “U Got Me Up”, and “Day By Day”. It’s nice to see a DJ in this day and age giving out a more positive vibe as opposed to the more common associations found with clubbing.
