The Sheffield trio made up of Phil Oakey, Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall will be returning to the studio for the first time since their 2001 album Secret fell on mostly deaf ears.
The Human League are returning to the fold, to join their new label mates Grace Jones, Soulwax and Royksopp. The new wave band has sold over 20 million records and topped the UK charts in 1981 with their hit single ‘Don’t You Want Me’.
According to the Limewire blog, Human League “have signed a multi-album deal with worldwide distribution”, of which lead singer Phil Oakley says, “we are delighted to have the opportunity to march forwards once again and attempt to produce new and exciting music in a new and exciting partnership”.
Unfortunately, the only thing I can remember about Human League is their appearance in the movie The Wedding Singer. Let’s hope with this new album they can finally put the Eighties revival to rest.
