Are the good times finally coming to an end?
It seems the days of ripping, stealing and infringing on artists music could be coming to an end. Internet beast Google have put their censorship claws into motion by shutting down several well-known blogs due to violation of copyright. These includes Pop Tarts, Masala, I Rock Cleveland, To Die By Your Side, It’s a Rap and Living Ears.
As an example of the Internet being such a grey area, the blogs were notified of infringement even though they were often using official promo tracks from record labels, which they had permission to blog.
Nonetheless, these removals will ring alarm bells right across the Internet and the wider music-downloading world. And, perhaps more significantly, amongst those people stealing and sharing music without any thought of the potential repercussions.
Guillaume Decouflet, who runs the blog Masala cried foul over his blog removal, stating in his defense that, "We haven’t been posting any Whitney Houston or anything." Strangely enough his blog remains active and Pop tarts has moved his site to another host.
In the immortal words of crying babies across the world, “boo hoo”!
