He’s 6 ft 5 and he’s one of the nicest young producers in the business, that’s London native James Blake. The 21 year old with ‘da skills is about to release his new solo EP CMYK and as reported on Electronic Beats it will go through Belgian label R&S.
Prior to his solo career, Blake played with the very hot duo Mount Kimbie, but now he has branched out with his own work, tinkering with a whole mix of dubstep, R&B and pop. His innovative vocals constantly garnering praise and attention form the dance community.
Blake has already had releases out on Hessle Audio (read our interview with Ramadanman/Hessle Audio here) and Hemlock but has since signed up with R&S for this EP. He is currently talking to a whole host of other labels for an album deal.
If you need a good introduction, just check this in-depth interview of Blake and listen to what he accomplished on his wonky remix of Mount Kimbie’s Maybes track. Here’s a snippet:

Small bit of Blake trivia, his father played in a well-known act from the 70s, with which Fatboy Slim subsequently sampled in his album. Try and guess who it is?
R&S will release Blake’s ‘CMYK’ EP on May 31st, in digital and 12″ vinyl format.
