2011 Editor’s Picks: Sarah

2011 Editor's Picks: Sarah Another year, another list and a chance to share what we though were some of the highlights of 2011. Here music editor Sarah Farina picks her five moments from a momentous year

This year provided such an interesting and inspiring massive wave of music. I’ve never found so many different sounds in hip-hop, house and bass music which I really enjoyed in 2011. So here they are, my albums of the year 2011:

A$AP ROCKY – LIVELOVEA$AP
The debut mixtape ‘LIVELOVEA$AP’  from A$AP Rocky is the best hip hop LP that came out in 2011. This Album definitely points out the future of HipHop.

Yoko Duo – Behaving Like A Widower
Singer-songwriter August Landelius from Sweden and producer Holger Zilske from Berlin teamed up in 2011 and created this beautiful record full of soulful electronic vibes and deep sounds.

Kyle Hall – WO6K
“I’m a black kid from Detroit that makes some interesting shit.” – Kyle Hall
This 19 year old kid absolutely is doing some interesting shit and already has a handful of killer productions out there. I could listen to his EP ‘WO6K’, which he released on this own label Wild Oats, a thousand of times in a? row.

Shabazz Palaces – Black Up
Ishmael Butle and Tendai Maraire known as Shabazz Palaces and they made one of the finest experimental hip hop album’s of 2011. I haven’t heard such a creative and fascinating piece of art in a long while.

Sepalcure – Sepalcure
Footwerk, house, UK garage – this and much more is what Machinedrum and Praveen Sharma aka Sepalcure combined in their first LP. It’s a timeless album that I can listen to whilst Im laying in bed or dancing in a club.
