A week or so ago Burial and Massive Attack released the B-side to their upcoming collaboration ’4 Walls’, a beautifully haunting 12-minute masterpiece that left our heads floating in gauze. Last night Mary Anne Hobbs debuted side A on her XFM radio show, and it’s everything we imagined. Burial has taken the duos 2010 single ‘Paradise Circus’ (not exactly an upbeat number to begin with) and filtered it through the rain-blurred memories of early morning coldness and old cigarettes. Hope Sandoval has never sounded more achingly, distantly beautiful as this.
