Dear readers, I always enjoy it when I realize that someone has sent me a postcard from some distant place. Today’s picture of the day is meant to be such a postcard. The photo shows rose petals that are being used to add some flavor when producing absinthe in Pontalier, France. It occurred to me that I was invited to be part of the international jury of the 12th Absinthiades to award the absinthe of the year 2012. I visited the distilleries of François Guy and Emile Pernot as well as one of the few absinthe wormwood plantations that are active since the absinthe ban was abolished in 1998. I wonder how many musicians produce their electronic music while being high on absinthe? I know of Marilyn Manson’s Brian Warner. But who else comes to mind? Best, Luci ~Photo: Luci Lux
