Electronic Beats Recommends: Modeselektor and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour in Vienna and Prague

Good music, a champagne shower and both venues packed with excited people – the Vienna and Pragues dates of the Electronic Beats Recommends Tour with amazing headliners Modeselektor and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour were a great success. Now Electronic Beats Recommends is proud to present a glimpse of what it was like, and a brief look into what will come during the next dates in Cologne, Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.

VIENNA

For their first coup, the Electronic Beats Recommends Tour crashed the infamous art space and club Pratersauna, traveling heavy with energizing DJ–duo Modeselektor and the soulful and psychedelic Danish band The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. A musical prelude of electro infused punk rock was provided by the German band Synge.

Selections from the 2009 AGT album Fruit offered amazing melodies and a great density of potential hit songs. Live, captivating AGT songstress Mette Lindberg, shows the band’s golden side, charming the audience with wit and vitality.

Around the wee hours it was time for Modeselektor to step up to the plate with their visual crew Pfadfinderei. The Berlin duo shoved the controllers all the way up and accentuated their performance with heavy bass. Hits like “Black Block” and the new Boys Noize Remix by Jeffer were hurled into the packed Pratersauna.

Champagne shower are mandatory during Modeselektor gigs, and used to cool down the audience. When Apparat’s tracks resounded from the stage, people went crazy.

Last but not least, the smashing DJ sets by Anna Leiser, Dr. Blake and Marflow aka Diskokaine, supplied entertainment until the morning hours.

PRAGUE

After the triumphant Viennese premiere of the club tour of Electronic Beats Recommends, the event moved to the Bohemian capital Prague. The Lucerna Music Bar was proud to host The Asteroids Galaxy Tour and welcomed Czech audience favourites Modeselektor with open arms.

One would not expect people to party as if there was no tomorrow on a Monday night, but that turned out to be the case during the Electronic Beats Recommends Prague stop. The Czech dance scene was represented by the glam-rock duo The Fakes, whose electro-clash-fuelled sets interwove the night like a red thread.

Not only did they have the responsibility to open the night at 20:30, but they also brought the event to a successful end, which following the buoyant live set by Modeselektor. Around half past nine, a full Lucerna was ready for the Danish group, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, who delivered first-rate sophisticated pop.

Here too, lead singer Metter Lindberg enthralled the Prague audience as did the instrumental prowess of her band. After their dream-like performance, the stage was set for Berlin boys Modeselektor and Pfadfinderei. Their audiovisual show reinforced the fact that they are brilliant performers that know how to make the crowd happy – and again, the champagne was part of their gig. Sebastian and Gernot mostly played the tracks from their last album Happy Birthday, adding a few Moderat songs for good measure. The crowd loved them.
