What first comes to mind when thinking about Brazil are samba-dancing beauties by the beach and Caipirinhas, according to my German colleagues. Here´s another example: The 6emeia project brought to life by Anderson Augusto and Leonardo Delafuente.

The duo creates whimsical drain art that is sure to brighten up your day after getting mugged or scammed in the notoriously dangerous but impossibly cutting-edge Brazilian city. Those urban –and legal -- art drains have become a popular tourist attraction in the Sao Paulo neighborhood of Barra Funda, where they began their project with the purpose of “changing and transforming daily life”.

Both Augusto and Delafuente reside in the neighborhood, which is quickly becoming a nightlife hotspot. But they don’t just paint storm drains, but also light posts, manhole covers and any other objects that make up the urban scenario. Check their website for more pictures.
