Tastes good in my mouth - Matt Veneer

21/04/2006

Crowned as the new pioneers of Krautrock, winning over ardent fans such as Damo Suzuki of Can, Fujiya & Miyagi are finally unleashing their new album "Transparent Things" this May. "I spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about food - especially Moules Marnier, hell, that's tasty. When I cook for women, I never try to prove my manliness by conjuring up something fancy. Something simple will suffice. Yet in contradiction, when I cook for someone I want them to walk away satisfied. I go through phases of being really obsessed with one particular type of food - Hula Hoops are a regular fixture. If you're lucky enough to come across those cheesy ones then buy loads - they're like gold dust. The last place I saw them was in a hospital canteen in Hove, East Sussex. The most romantic meal I ever had was when my girlfriend and I were really hungover and went in search of a decent Sunday breakfast in Brighton. We ended up in a cosy Greek restaurant and chose the fish mezze, which we stuffed with our fingers - king prawns, swordfish - it was an unexpected treat."
