With their recent remix of Empire of the Sun's “We Are The People”, NYC duo Golden Filter has garnered heat, hype and love from the blogosphere. American record producer Stephen connected with Australian chanteuse Penelope in a buzzing New York art collective, where they bantered about their first love: photography. They’ve since remixed Little Boots, Cut Copy and Peter Bjorn and John.
The duo cites Soft Cell, The Human League, Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk as influences yet sound like a sugarcoated version of something Ladytron, Sally Shapiro or Glass Candy could have concocted on a ravey night. Their first (and only) single, ”Solid Gold” was good enough to attract the Presets, who asked Golden Filter to support them in the USA in March and April, while their first release came out on the new and fledgling Dummy magazine label.
Luckily, you can get your hands on their music legally and for free at Dummy Mag, where “Solid Gold” and its remixes are offered in mp3 format. Also, make sure you also check out their great photo blog.
