First of two very very different releases from the ever-dependable Seed Records. Antoni Maiovvi makes brash driving italo disco of the lasers in space variety, and like all (good) italo it balances out the 80’s soundtrack atmospherics, soaring synths and strobe light beats with the odd bit of cheese, sadness or euphoria as appropriate. Being a bit of a disco geek I am surprised I was not aware of Antoni Maiovvi, as his productions are a cut above a lot of the preset flavoured rubbish that is currently trailing behind the ‘disco’ bandwagon. However that can be explained by this being his first release that I can tell of - very little information is available on the journalistic crutch that is the internet, except some obviously fake stuff on his Myspace, about being an ‘original’ italo producer from the 80’s. If you like italo, then I guarantee you will like this – it’s not a copy, homage, or interpretation. It’s instrumental italo disco music. And let's be honest; you like italo, or you don't.
