Second installment of the Need2Soul mix series, an offshoot from the party of the same name. Organising events everywhere from the Big Chill festival, to London's Cargo club and the dirty basements in between, the Need2Soul crew peddle a sound of deep house with you guessed it; soul. Following on from the "does what it says on the tin" mixes from Ron Trent and Jerome Sydenham on volume one, volume two takes a more varied approach with Benji B and Glenn Underground taking to the decks.

Best known for his show 'Deviation' on BBC Radio's 1Xtra, as well as being a very in demand DJ, Benji B pulls together a mix of forgotten deep soul (as Jimmy Abney's 'Come Go With Me', known as the 'Marvin tune', a classic from Benji's show) and Paradise Garage classics mixing them with some sublime house and techno.

On disc two, Glenn Underground takes things in a more international direction, even managing to include his own track 'Indians & Bagpipes', which is, well, literally named. Glenn's mix is more jazzy affair, playing with elements such as native voices, a driving beat and slick production, more associated with a deep house sound of a certain vintage, and it does it well, but it's not really my cup of tea.

They are both technically excellent mixes, but the best by far for me is Benji B - check out the amazing Maurice Faulton mix of 'Love Endeavor' by Alice Smith, or Ame's first release, Hydrolic Dog. It is also noteworthy that as well as using some songs of a classic status, he is not afraid to drop something from 2003 such as Carl Craig's mix of Cesaria Evora - if the music fits, it fits. Great stuff.
