“Like Lily Allen lost in a k-hole”, is how Mixmag describes them and I couldn’t have said it better. Coming straight out of leftfield, this LP is a refreshing UK post-dance brew, full of guilt-ridden pop hooks channeled via Frances Noon’s dangerously captivating voice.
“Young Lovers” is a slow building croon full of pops and bursts of excitement, whereas “Superpowers” is a brash contemporary ode to Moloko. While there is a hefty amount of messing about on this record, what stands out more is the style of enthusiastic art-pop (imagine a genre-diffident Television Personalities) and the inventive, twisted songwriting.
