Imagine in your head the sounds that you would hear if Aphex Twin decided to make music to accompany an afternoon tea party for the Women's Institute. Got it? Well, now forget the terrible juxtaposition and imagine it as something that sounds really nice that you would actually want to hear, and you have Sleeps In Oysters. Glitch folk, electronic baroque, Belle and Sebastian on acid - all of these are right, and wrong at the same time. Sleeps in Oysters are pretty unique (to my un-folked ears) but I am not sure folk is even right word- if it wasn't so glitchy and electronic then I would just stick with the coverall tag of 'acoustic'. This is music for listening, reflecting and for enjoying with a cup of tea. Or whilst smoking a cigarette in post coital silence. This was the surprise hit in my music loving office - it's not often I put something on that absolutely everyone likes, but this is one of those rare exceptions - everyone wanted to know what it was. Sad, dreamy and just plain old 'nice'.
