It's amazing what things can become once they’re given a new meaning. An abandoned Shell gas station from 1956 is now a gorgeously remodeled art and living space in the Schöneberg district of Berlin.

Swiss art collector and dealer Juerg Judin restored the 800-square-meter spot over three years. Now, the station is adorned with a new wing and an idyllic outdoor garden. Judin kept the original spirit of the station alive by using salvaged tiles, curved windows and the red Shell logo colour on door frames and the outdoor roof.

Check out the aesthetically pleasing New York Times slideshow to see more.
