All travelers wrestle with the sensation of not being able to explain themselves. But now that portable Pictionary device ICOON exists as a sleek phone application, inquiring about a power outlet will never again beget a canister of sugar. With over 500 easy-to-decipher pictures and symbols in twelve categories, ICOON’s minimalist design – as popularized previously in the cult book series – transitions seamlessly to the iPhone.
The Berlin-based company behind ICOON, Amberpress, collected symbols from all over the globe and whittled them down to only most useful and universal ones. Now, with the caress of a screen, travelers can find a store selling shaving cream or communicate a peanut allergy anywhere in the world.
