Recently, some interesting news has projected itself out into the world of movies. Further rumblings of a discovered Stanley Kubrick project Lunatic At Large; followed by an upcoming José González documentary and finally a grimy Rolling Stones documentary have all made headlines.
Probably discovered in one of Kubrick’s many dungeons, Lunatic At Large is rumored for a remake and has leading actors Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell starring. Initially considered lost, son-in-law Philip Hobbs found the script in 2006 and the criminal capper is based on pulp author Jim Thompson.
Described, as “a dark and surprising mystery” circa Shutter Island, we are keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
Meanwhile, Swedish indie singer José González is making headlines for all the right reasons. Darling of the indie music scene, the talented musician will star in an upcoming documentary, The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González.
Filmed over three years, the documentary combines a video diary, a surveillance camera, concert and tour footage as well as the filmmaker’s Mikel Cee Karlsson and Fredrik Egerstrand animations. Take a gander of the teaser below.
Banned in 1972, but tame by today’s standards, Cocksucker Blues is a Rolling Stone documentary that was deemed ‘too honest’ for its time. Limited screenings of Robert Franks piece have been previously shown but due to a legal agreement the director had to be present at all screenings. That said, the film will be available at the upcoming Cannes Film festival but for those who can’t wait you can find the film on the bootleg market.
