Visionaire goes electric

Fashionista bible Visionaire has long prided itself on being plugged into the zeitgeist. Now, the glossy temple-to-style can also be plugged in to the wall. Inspired by the Smart Fortwo car, the 57th issue of Visionaire is powered by electricity and has a plug shaped like the two-seater roadster. Designed like a daily calendar, the 365 works of art in the issue will be illuminated by a light-up picture frame.

Visionaire 57 presents the works of renowned artists Olafur Eliasson, Agathe Snow, Bruce Nauman, Adel Abdessemed, Cao Fei, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Gabriel Orozco, Gelitin, Guyton\Walker, Kalup Linzy, Kaws, Maurizio Cattelan, Nathalie Djurberg, Paul Chan and Steve McQueen.

The stable of artists were chosen by guest curators like MoMa’s Klaus Biesenbacj and Pompidou Centre’s Christine Marcel, fashion designers Marc Jacobs and Raf Simons, starchitect Zaha Hadid, actresses Natalie Portman and Tilda Swinton, and artist John Baldessari.

4,000 copies of the electric issue will be available in October for $295.
