Henrik Schwarz, Âme and Dixon - The Grandfather Paradox

Without knowing the past, it’s hard to succeed in the future. This is particularly the case in music, as proven by a new compilation from German house dons Henrik Schwarz, Âme and Dixon.

“The Grandfather Paradox: An Imprudent Journey Through 50 Years Of Minimalistic Music“ explores the history of minimalist music without any stylistic boundaries. Hence, Robert Hood’s groundbreaking “Minus” sits comfortably next to the legendary electronic composer Raymond Scott, while Richie Hawtin’s mix of La Funk Mob’s “Motor Bass Gets Phunked Up” nestles up close to composer John Carpenter. Apart from classical and modern minimalism, the album also features post-punk (Liquid Liquid), Krautrock (Can), jazz (Moondog) and the inimitable Arthur Russell.

The album is released as both an unmixed and a mixed CD on BBE.
