Oh, the strange world of manufactured pop. The South African sensation, Die Antwoord who only appeared this February, have not only taken the music universe by storm but also signed to major label Interscope Records.
On Wednesday (May 5th) the animated trio made up of Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek wrote on their Twitter "Guess what DRE DRE, SNOOP DOGG, 2PAC, EMINEM, 50CENT, MARILYN MANSON and DIE ANTWOORD have in common?"
Absolutely no idea.
Going on to say, “23 TRACK $O$ ALBUM DROPPING FOKKEN SOON ON INTERSCOPE RECORDS JOU FOKKEN NAAI!"
Word.
Call it what you want, Aqua meets Apehx Twin, apocalyptic-pop freak show, basically a total car crash, they have seeped right into the seams of pop culture.
However, they are as fake and manufactured as any Simon Cowell frankenstein creation. Check here for further info.
Even at the beginning of their career they were shouting of the enormous interest they were experiencing, "Live Nation, the biggest events company in the world, wants to make a deal with us. There's an international bidding war going on at the moment over who's going to represent us. EMI Worldwide and Interscope Universal are bidding for my soul."
Die Antwoord will open for MIA at Hardfest in July.
