The much-referenced psychedelic genre Krautrock will now get an in-depth, 192-page retrospective entitled Krautrock: Cosmic Rock and its Legacy. The book will include 220 black & white and full color pictures and is edited by the author of Contemporary Art in Eastern Europe, Nikolaos Kotsopoulos.
Without the influence of captivating Krautrock groups like NEU! , Can and Amon Düül, we might not have heard the sounds of Radiohead post-Ok Computer, post-punkers Cabaret Voltaire or even Fujiya & Miyagi. Widely publicized by UK DJ John Peel, Krautrock was a ‘70s movement inspired by ‘60s experimental bands, which focused on improvisational and moody progressive rock, and took place in various corners of Germany.
As described by the English publishing house Black Dog: “this is an essential compendium to a music whose spirit and ideas still vibrate through contemporary culture today.” The book will offer testimonials from a wide range of Krautrock contemporaries; including Add N to (X)'s Ann Shenton.
