Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is known to many as one of the creative minds behind experimental rock band The Mars Volta. The band’s latest record, 'The Bedlam in Goliath', was released in January 2008, but Rodriguez-Lopez is again embarking on solo endeavors. This time, he has found a partner in record label Stones Throw, known for their Hip Hop and Funk releases and artists such as Madlib, Peanut Butter Wolf and many more.

The new record, entitled 'Old Money', is available digitally already (see link below) and will be released as a physical copy on January 27, 2009. The melodic songs present a journey across countries and genres, where influences mesh to form the specific sound of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. This uncommon collaboration has certainly proven useful.
