Omar-S is the next DJ mixing a compilation for London’s techno and house temple Fabric. The tracklist might look a bit unilateral, indeed it reminds of Ricardo Villalobos' Fabric mix, where the Chilean included just own and unreleased material and created a hybrid between album and mix CD. Omar-S' approach is similar, but he "only" adds four unreleased tracks to his mix, the other tunes are already released, although most of them can only be found on limited 12 inches.
As Omar-S stated against Fabric, he doesn’t need other people’s music. He further added in the proper Detroit style: “I got over 100 songs released. I can make fucking six fucking Fabric records right now. I can probably make fucking ten CDs just of unreleased shit.” Aha, fair enough.
By the way, Omar-S suggests to listen to the compilation as loud as possible. Because that’s the way he produced it. OK, here again: fair enough. Certainly a further highlight in the Fabric series.
