Two of the world’s most innovative musical acts are set to join forces for a very special two-hour performance in Manchester this July. Kraftwerk, the German pioneers of electronic music and American experimental composer Steve Reich will be performing a one-off gig as part of the Manchester International Festival.
The event will take place at the city's Velodrome, on the festival’s opening night, July 2. Reich will be debuting his new piece 2 x 5, to be performed by New York ensemble Bang on a Can. Other artists confirmed for the 17-day art and music extravaganza include The Mystery Jets, Rufus Wainwright and De La Soul.
The Manchester International Festival takes place July 2-19. For a full programme check out their website.
