THE XX transform into sculptures

With all the year-end hype still surrounding British band The XX, the trio have found artistic reprisal with acclaimed music video director Saam Farahmand. Farahmand spent months collaborating with the band in order to recreate a 3-D pop up installation/sculpture based on the self-titled debut album.

The sculpture, which can be viewed early next year at The Vinyl Factory in London, “utilizes film, light and sound via three specially created audio-visual units (each unit representing one member of the band with a mix of exclusively filmed footage and mixed sound).”

Farahmand who has already done music videos for the Klaxons and These New Puritans was motivated to creating a completely new aural and visual experience for the viewer or listener.

If you want to take a souvenir home of the short exhibition, you can snap up a limited edition, gatefold version of The XX album that will also include a second 12” featuring Matthew Dear’s remix of The XX’s track “VCR”.

The exhibition will take place at The Vinyl Factory from January 8-12, 2010
