Dutch techno DJ Tiësto has seemingly taken a liking to indie music. Considering the fact that Tiësto is a champion of cheesy trance, this piece of news is particularly hard to swallow.
Tiësto has dropped the turntables and enlisted the help of one of Icelandic’s finest singers, Sigur Rós' Jónsi Birgisson, alongside the very unusual help of some of rock’s foremost talents, including Bloc Party's Kele Okereke, Metric's Emily Haines, Tegan and Sara, and Kianna Alarid of Tilly and the Wall. In a recent statement, Tiesto added: “I’m introducing more and more flavours of what people know as Tiësto. This is a record you can enjoy at home, not just on the dancefloor.”
Judging from just the title track “Kaleidoscope”, it’s definitely not a disaster but quite bizarre nonetheless.
Tiesto’s Kaleidoscope is due out on October 20 on Ultra.
