“Electronic Music will sound more organic.” This is one of eight predictions about the future of Electronic Music, suggested by artists taking place in the renowned Unsound Festival New York.
For the musical extravaganza devoted to “talent and creativity” DJs, producers, promoters and composers from all over the world came to New York. Until February 14 Unsound will dominate venues all over Manhattan and Brooklyn with shows, parties and happenings - here are the most interesting snipes so far, as told to Flavorwire:
Petre Inspirescu: “Electronic music will be more diverse and experimental (…) Promoters play a very important role (…) Musically speaking, I think there will be more ‘natural vibrations’ infused into electronic music [to make it] sound more organic”
Luke Hess: “I hope that the future will allow more genuine musicians to express themselves in the purest form possible without any other ulterior motives besides their passion for expanding musical boundaries and pushing new concepts.”
Jacaszek: “To do something original now, we should, rather, take from what’s close to us (local tradition, the deepness of our souls) and then express that with contemporary artistic language.”
Tobias Freund (nsi.): “[The future of] electronic music will be abstract and simple . I don’t need to be innovative [because] for me it is a natural process. I will always be curious about music and life. I don’t take too much notice of trends and hype.”
The festival lineup also includes renowned artists like Carl Craig, Moritz von Oswald, nsi., Lillevan, and many others. Listen to the Unsound Compilation featuring exclusive tracks here and click here to read the full article.
