William Burroughs' cut-up audio

text: Ari Stein

Distinguished junkie, poet, author and pop culture hero William S. Burroughs is set to posthumously release a very limited 7” vinyl.

Apparently, Burroughs worked on various cut-up audio experiments throughout his career and one album that stuck out was “Break Through In A Grey Room”. Along with Ornette Coleman, Burroughs recorded Sufi multi-instrumentalists the Master Musicians of Joujouka up in the hills of Northern Morocco, circa 1973. I bet you no drugs were involved in that session.

According to Fact magazine, three of the best tracks – “Curse Go Back”, “Interview With Mr Martin” and “Burroughs Called The Law” will appear this week on an attractively presented 7", “Curse Go Back”, which is limited to 300 copies.
