RSS feeds, what are they?
RSS commonly stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’ and allows an internet user to keep up to date with their favourite web sites in an automated – rather than manual – manner.

Subscription and feed readers
One way to access the feeds is to click on one of the links above, then bookmark the page, so you can easily check up on the latest content. Another option is for the user to subscribe to the RSS Feeds of their favourite websites by clicking these icons in the address bar or copying the feed’s link into a ‘reader’. A ‘reader’ is a piece of software, within which your chosen feeds can be accessed. Whenever new content is uploaded to a website, the reader will collect the feeds, ready for you to access all of your favourite web-content in one place. Readers can be web-based, which allow you to access your RSS feeds wherever you have internet access, or you can use downloadable applications. Text, images, audio and video may all be included in the feed.

How to get a reader
Unless you want a web-based service, you must choose your downloadable Feed Reader according to your operating system.
