Here we present to you the amazing live set of the London-based trio Filthy Dukes, recorded during the sold out Electronic Beats Festival in Cologne. The band was the opener of the show and moved the crowd with their energetic synth-pop sound, which is already making waves in their homeland. Now they will conquer the rest of Europe with it: “We’re playing, DJing and touring at the moment and will start thinking about album two soon”, said lead vocalist Tim Lawton. “We’ve been doing a lot of shows outside of London."
As DJs they spun regularly for Dazed & Confused. As promoters, they’ve hosted free warehouse raves, boat parties on the Thames and co-promoted renowned London new music orgy Adventures In The Beetroot Field. They’ve killed pretty much every summer festival and got a residency at the legendary Fabric. In short, they’ve been everywhere. Their busy hands were also behind some of the best remixes of last year. From The Maccabees’ “X-Ray” to The Rakes’ “22 Grand Job”, their niftiness with a laptop has seen clubland blessed with some huge tracks. And their Kill Em All night has been the rock-rave backbone of London, filling Fabric to capacity each month with DJs and white-hot new bands. Bloc Party, Justice and Shy Child: all of these and more got their first exposure at Kill Em All.
At the show they played tracks off their current LP “Nonsense In The Dark”, which includes energetic standouts “This Rhythm” and “Messages”. If you weren’t able to attend the show in Cologne, our recording should help you imagine the atmosphere.
