Ian Pooley--The Radio Sessions - Electronic Beats On Air, 2009-03

A few years ago in an interview, Pooley expressed a strong desire to be a fisher on a Croatian island. Instead, the highly successful Mainz-born DJ moved to Berlin in 2006. After 15 years in the scene, the formerly reclusive veteran had realised it was time to adapt (and profit) from the changing scene.

As always, Pooley finds himself at the centre of a hectic club scene, pushed between the clubs of Milan, Kiev and Miami. What shines through is his ability to keep his cool. "I'm not interested in braggin' about producing four tracks in two days" he explains. "Of course it's technically possible but not satisfying for me". As a passionate producer and musician, he prefers to take his time to create skilful arrangements. "I love to create complex sounds and songs", he elaborates. "And I've found out that a great track takes its time." Never the less, extensive studio work and rapid DJ trips are the opposing forces of his life.

Luckily, "Recording my last album brought back the fun I used to have" Pooley reveals with a smile. But he'd still like to "reduce my bookings elsewhere in favour of a local residency and the opportunity to spend more time in my studio".

Pooley recently graced us with a pleasing one-hour-set of sunny, earnest house tracks from the likes of Stimming, Kerri Chandler and Soundstream.
