Jahcoozi--Whirlpool Mix for Electronic Beats Radio, 2010-04

Jahcoozi formed in 2002 and it did not take them much time to up the ante in cross-fertilised dance music. With songwriter/MC/stage-animal Sasha Perera (London/Sri Lanka), groove luminary Robert, better known as ROBOT Koch and bassist/guitarist/sound-tech fetishist Oren Gerlitz (Tel Aviv, Israel) the trio is both musically and culturally a mash-up force that from their very beginning created a unique mongrel of electronic music.

Over the years, Jahcoozi have collaborated with, and been remixed by a refreshingly wide range of artists including Asian Dub Foundation, Stereotyp, Modeselektor, Siriusmo, Oliver $, RQM, King Cannibal, Mochipet, Rustie, Buraka Som Sistema, Missill, Lethal B, Kano, JME, Skepta, Ata + Sasse, Cassy, Luomo, New Flesh, Infinite Livez, Alhaca Soundsystem, Hannah Holland and Chris de Luca vs. Phon.o.

Their releases can be found on labels like Kitty-yo, Asound, Playhouse, Ninja Tune, BPitch, Citizen, Crosstown rebels, 1965 and WMF records showing that the trio processes its inspirations to a contrasting output leveraging the skills of its members in constantly changing ways. With the versatility of their sound Jahcoozi do attract a multilayer audience covering pop lovers, mash-uppers, introspective dubbers and dance addicts. Thrilling live shows contribute in bringing together underground and mainstream on the same dancefloors on festivals, raves, in clubs, squats and even bring-your-own boombox parties in underbridges. Loads of unreleased tracks and unheard special edits indicate that much of Jahcoozi’s output is solely made for love and fun of setting dancefloors on fire.

As an appetizer for their upcoming album ‘Barefoot Wanderer’, Jahcoozi prepared a mix showcasing some of the album tracks and also featuring odd dubstep from the likes of Stereotyp, Untold and Shackleton.
