Junior Boys

When youthful success meets grown-up production skills

Inspired by the London music scene of the mid ‘90s, Jeremy Greenspan decided to form the Junior Boys with Johnny Darkin in 1999. Shortly afterwards, a demo was handed to dubstep pioneer and Hyperdud labelhead Steve Goodman aka Kode9 and it became apparent that a 12” and an album should be released. At this point, Greenspan’s childhood friend Matt Didemus, an experienced sound engineer, succeeded Johnny Darkin.

The duo gained superb reviews of first album "Last Exit". Soon they were signed by Domino Recordings, toured alongside Mouse on Mars and released second album "So This Is Goodbye" two years later. This was the album that convinced reviewers that Junior Boys played in the same league as synth pop groups like Röyksopp, as well as presented a rich overview of two decades of quality pop music.

Since then, Greenspan and Didemus have spent a lot of time touring and producing (not only their own output, but also for Caribou). In between they found some time to do a Body Language compilation for Get Physical and Greenspan provided the vocals for songs on Morgan Geist´s album "Double Night Time". With Carl Craig´s sensational remix of "Like a Child" causing a stir, Junior Boys drew special attention from the clubs: an estimated two of three DJs own "The Dead Horse" EP and massively played it out in 2007/2008.

Newest Junior Boys album "Begone Dull Care" is an outstanding work of art that perfectly joins together multilateral influences and sometimes-conflicting parts to create a unifying whole. Listening to the album´s singles proves this: well balanced and filigree electronic sounds are flawlessly interwoven with classic pop song structures. Greenspan´s discreet voice gains the appropriate pop appeal and makes the record accessible for a broader audience.

For us, the duo prepared a brand new club-focused mix featuring tracks from Petar Dundov, Lindstrom, Morgan Geist, Soundstream, Christian Vogel and others.
