Phoenix’s live show was a sure highlight of the Electronic Beats Festival in Cologne. The indie-electro group is one of France’s most successful exports and rightly so; they performed these stunning new songs at E-Werk just one day after releasing “Wolfang Amadeus Phoenix”, their fourth album, in Germany.
The crowd, already warmed up by first three acts, went crazy when the retro-rockers started their set with “Lisztomania” and “1901”. Even though they see each other almost every day -- during their last world tour they did almost 200 gigs in one year – the band remains very good friends, which is evident when watching them on stage. But what translates even more, in terms of energy, is that they are passionate about what they are doing: closing song “Consolation” left the crowds begging for more.
