Shir Khan--Session for Electronic Beats Radio 2009-05

The success story of Jan Simon Spielberger aka DJ Shir Khan began with the 2007 release of his debut "Maximize!", a double mix-CD which blended diverse styles of music in a ambitious way – much like 2 Many DJs or Optimo. His talent for eclectic sound collages was quickly recognized by well known and magazines and blogs, who labelled him "the next big thing" and said that he "perfectly captures the direction of dance music right now".

In addition to starting his own label Exploited Records, Spielberger also does radio mix shows for the online community of London’s famous Fabric club, Berlin-based Radio Fritz and his Berlin Battery blog. He describes his musical repertoire as "a mix full of Post Cash Pop, Disco, Acid, Techno, Aristocratic Booty Beats, Glitch, Eurocrunk, Hiptronica, Favela Funk, Mash-ups, Jackin House, Cheap Electronics & Pre-Madonna".

As a result of "Maximize", Shir Khan started touring the world and has now shared the stage with such luminaries as LCD Soundsystem, Erol Alkan, Whomadewho, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism, Justice and Grandmaster Flash. At the moment he is trying to move away from playing “Maximal” hits, so his sets have been getting deeper and featuring more stripped down sounds. This is music to contemplate as well as dance to.
