Tiefschwarz--Souvenir Mix for Electronic Beats Radio, 2009-08

Tiefschwarz are Alexander “Ali” and Sebastian “Basti” Schwarz, two brothers sharing a devotion to DJing and music production. Tiefschwarz, which is German for “deep black”, combines their surname, Schwarz, and their love for the deeper shapes of house music. The Tiefschwarz project was founded in the mid ‘90s and the first release, “24 Seven”, came out with remixes from Michi Lange and Boris Dlugosch on Continuemusics, a label they co-founded. “24 Seven” went right into the cases of renowned DJs and fire-started Ali and Basti’s careers as producers.

Some consider Tiefschwarz part of the first generation of German house producers. Since the mid ‘90s, the brothers have remixed artists like Ultra Naté, Byron Stingily, Jam & Spoon, Masters at Work and Earth Wind and Fire. They gained a serious reputation across the global house scene and, in addition to countless releases worth mentioning, did the club mix for Mousse T’s “Horny ‘98”, maybe the only mix of the track that could be played at credible clubs without drawing the critical audience’s ire.

In 2005, Tiefschwarz were awarded the “Dance Music Award” for their remix of Spektrum’s “Kinda New”, a track that helped introduce the diffusion of electro house. In 2006, Tiefschwarz founded Souvenir Music. The imprint stands for club music and the guys behind it consider different facets of dance from a diverse artist roster: Riton, Phonique, Ziggy Kinder, Ruede Hagelstein.
