Tomas Barfod aka TomBoy

A Scandinavian musical prodigy that knows no boundaries

TomBoy aka Tomas Barfod enjoys his life on the road: while DJing in London, Paris, Rome and Berlin or drumming for his indie-crossover band Who Made Who, the Scandinavian talent embraces many different facets of many different types of music.

Growing up in Copenhagen, Denmark, he learned to play the drums at the tender age of ten, first turning towards funk and rock music. Getting rather bored over the years, he soon discovered electronic music, got his first record player and samplers together and started DJing and working on his own tracks. In 1999, he founded the house duo Filur with fellow Dane Kasper Bjørke; their enormous hit "You and I" soon catapulted them into the big league. Combining his original house background and newly found interest in electro in his band project Who Made Who, the trio worked their way into their fans hearts with '70s inspired basslines, wonderful melodies and energetic beats, courtesy of Tomas Barfod.

On his solo-tip, TomBoy released his debut album "Seriøs" on the Munich-based label Gomma, while consistently producing much blogged-about remixes for artists like Bloc Party, The Gorillaz, Chromeo, Digitalism and Peaches and earning international recognition from leading music magazines. Described by fellow artist and co-signer Tiga as "Aphex Twin sharing a drum machine with Etienne de Crécy in a '70s-era duplex in Chicago", his "funk-filled-groove-injected-modern-post-disco-house-bombs" were even enjoyed by movie star Michael Douglas (not voluntarily, though) while doing his work-out in a LA hotel gym: "This music is great, man."
