Voom:Voom

You might not have heard of the Voom:Voom project, but you’ve surely heard about each member of the collaboration. The “Vienna-Munich Connection” unites one half of world famous producer team “Kruder & Dorfmeister”, Peter Kruder, with Compost Records label mates Christian Prommer and Roland Appel (Trüby Trio, Fauna Flash).

The idea to team up was born at the 1998 wedding of Compost label founder Michael Reinboth, where the three guests discussed making records free of genre conventions that worked on the dancefloor. Since 2000, Voom:Voom has released three 12” and an album on Compost Records. These releases were supported by DJ Hell and played by Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio1. Voom:Voom’s latest release is a remix version of their 2006 album, “Peng Peng”, which was rearranged by high profile DJs and producers like Henrik Schwarz, Mr. Charles Webster, Wahoo, Marcus Worgull and Deetron.

In the words of Compost, the sound of Voom:Voom is “aimed at the dancefloor, combining bits of Jazz, Dub and deep grooves, still keeping it very minimal to give the sounds space to develop their own unique class.” The spectrum of the sound ranges from Techno, House, Electro, Dirty Disco, orchestral symphonies and a touch of downtempo. The result is an exciting, thrilling and instinctive mix.
