Dutch house duo

Weval is the Dutch duo of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers. Combining their backgrounds in trip-hop and house, the pair released their debut EP, Half Age, on Atomnation in 2013. A year later, they signed to Cologne institution Kompakt with  Easier, a slow-burning house EP featuring “radiant synths, ardent vocal snippets and sublime melodies.” Tune into their exclusive mix for EB Radio here.

We’re easing into one of the last weeks of the year with a mix that reaches outside the confines of 4/4 rhythms.

This one comes from Dutch duo Weval (AKA Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers), and it weaves through cuts from legendary bands like Radiohead and Pink Floyd as well as electronica-oriented acts like Portable Sunsets, James Blake, and Darkside. The pair has two upcoming shows in Germany to promote its latest Kompakt-cosigned EP Easier: one’s at Berlin’s Lido on December 9 and another will take place in Cologne´s Gebäude 9 on December 10.
