Marcel Fengler may have grown up with the sounds of NWA, Gang Starr and A Tribe Called Quest spilling out his headphones, but his musical epiphany came courtesy of the heavy, progressive synth and acid sounds in the early 90s. A member of the Berghain family and resident of the club, he’s released records on the club’s in-house label Ostgut Ton, with his latest EP Frantic due to come out on the label in October. Here he serves up a heads down mix of brushed steel minimalism from folk like Kenny Larkin, Robert Hood and Anthony Shake Shakir.
