The recent news that Dead Can Dance, the legendary group whose influences ranged from world and medieval soundscapes to post-punk, have confirmed not only a new LP but a world tour as well is probably the greatest news we’ve heard in ages. From their official Facebook page:
“We have started working on the album and the World Tour is taking shape….we will be announcing news in the coming weeks!”
The last official announcement had been in May of 2011, when Brendan Perry stated that he’d been speaking with vocalist Lisa Gerrard about recording an album during the winter, which would likely be released this summer, with a two-month world tour to follow later this year.
The confirmation has us airing out our black wardrobe and preparing once more for the magnificence that is DCD. Over the course of their 17-year career, the duo created some of the most breathtakingly beautiful music we’ve ever heard before their dissolution in 1998; if you missed them during their reign (or their 2005 reunion tour) then you’re in for one of the greatest shows of your life.
