EB Video Premiere: Math the Band – I Hope You Die

Math is hard.

Math the Band is much easier on the brain (and ears), especially if you (like us) came of age in the sweaty pits of DIY all-ages shows. If so, you’ll have a pretty good idea about what they embody: fun, energy, noise, and a massive delight in the music they make. The duo of  Kevin Steinhauser and Justine Mainville are about to release their tenth album (the third since Mainville was added to the lineup) GET REAL! on Anchor Brain, the label founded by the legendary Arab On Radar‘s Eric Paul, and ‘I Hope You Die’ is the second video made for the album. You know, the one hanging out below this text? Yep, that’s the one.

The duo are about to go on a three month tour in support of GET REAL! (US, not EU, which is a shame…we want our MTB!) and while you may not be able to catch them live, ‘I Hope You Die’ is a glimpse at an idealized version of that show you’re missing. It even takes place in a blanket fort strung with lights, reminiscent of all the homespun weirdo shows you ever put together with friends as a kid. You may die, but those memories never will.
