Joining us this year at Cologne's E-Werk on May 23rd are folk-pop project Milky Chance—the duo of vocalist and musician Clemens Rehbein and DJ Philipp Dausch. You probably recall the 2013 chart-topping hit "Stolen Dance", or perhaps the 2013 debut album it preceded, Sadnecessary. Their quirky blend of electronic and reggae influences garnered them a sold-out tour in their native Germany and a larger European tour launching this year, of which our Cologne event will be the highlight. Jon Hopkins has worked with names ranging from Brian Eno and Coldplay to Four Tet and David Lynch. He's even chilled with our very own Slices .
Electronic beats have their roots in many different forms of music predating the synthesizer and drum machine—one of which is jazz. We have a lot of respect for the innovative sounds which emerged in the 1920s-era Southern US, and which continues to grow and mutate to this day. With that in mind, we’re proud to present a special event—including a full live stream online—highlighting two live acts who have continued the pioneering of this great genre.
