Counting with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor

Hot-Chip1

Even without the pocket protector, the Hot Chip multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for loud shirts looks like a guy who’s good with numbers. Don’t forget, Hot Chip with be playing Electronic Beats Festival in Vienna on 12 October, 2011. Go here for the Facebook event page.

1 memorable line in a film or song:

“Son, you got a panty on your head.” – Raising Arizona

decisions I regret:

Not telling Ray Davies how much I like his late sixties work and not telling Ray Davies I had bought him his own tambourine at the Big Star Barbican concert. The moment passed pretty quickly, mind you.

3 people that should collaborate:

Justus Köhncke, Green Gartside and Al Green. Al Green would do the singing and Justus would produce the music, but Green Gartside might write the music first on guitar before having Justus transpose it.

4 things I haven’t done yet:

- Recorded my cover of Neil Young’s “Citizen Kane Junior Blues” (ever).

- Brushed my teeth (today).

- Got dressed (today).

- Fixed the loft ladder.

5 things I used to believe:

In Magic.

In the I Ching.

In Buddha.

In Zimmerman.

In Beatles.

6 hours ago . . .

I was dreaming.

7 records everyone should own:

Prince and The Revolution – Parade

Alex Chilton – Like Flies on Sherbert

Palace – Arise Therefore

Marvin Gaye – Sexual Healing 12”

Harry Nilsson – Nilsson Schmilsson

Little Richard - Lucille 7”

Sun Ra – The Singles

After 8 p.m. . . .

I will get my records together for tonight’s gig.

My 9 lives . . .

Cat, cat, cat, cat, cat, cat, cat, cat, cat.

I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole:

Boris Johnson.~
