Warning: the Avalanches’ second album imminent
A decade passed since the Avalanches’ last LP seduced itself in our psyche. Since I Left You, battered the mental doors with its trippy single ‘Frontier Psychiatrist’ and ushered in the genre of chop-pop. Who could forget, “You’re a nut, you’re crazy in the coconut.”
Now the wait may be finally over, the notoriously reclusive band has given more details of the impending second album. According to the BBC, a spokesperson has revealed that the long awaited LP will be “finished” once guest vocals by odd-pop crooner Ariel Pink have been recorded.
Rumors have circulated of a “hip-hop party” album or a “downbeat” album, but we feel the delay has something to do with clearing the albums samples. With such a long wait it would be a travesty if the album doesn’t clear the 3,500 vinyl samples. The Avalaches’ web developer, Clint, went on to say, “I hear Ariel Pink is recording some guest vocals for it and once those are done, the album will be finished (!)”.
Patience may be a virtue but virtue certainly has nothing when it comes to the excitement of hearing the next Avalanches LP.
